Looking to find/make horn stabs

Post by bendybones » Tue Feb 08, 2011 5:01 pm

Hi All,

I'm looking for the horn stabs from the old batman fight scenes (for a theatre show coming up very soon)
These are as hard to make as I expected, but much harder to find as freely download than I expected.

Any tips on making / finding them?

Sample them from old clips of Batman.

if you want those specific stabs then that's your only option really. sample batman.
I'm sure YouTube will help you.

Horn playing is so determined by the inflections and the recording technique that emulations never really sound right. I have a few libraries with trills etc, but they don't sound like a 1960s LA session recorded badly to videotape. Recreating a specific real horn sound with sampled horn libraries is very close to impossible.

I'm doing a lot of sampled horns in recent work and I spend most of my time cursing myself for an idiot. It's more difficult than making 'fake guitar' patches. Another fruitless activity.

tldr; sample Batman.
