If I was going to buy a laptop I would also get an Envy.
I guess the only thing you need to consider is if your audio interface works well with Win764bit and if you have a firewire device it would be good to know if the firewire/IEEE1394 port on the computer isn't just some cheap no-name thing. Texas Instruments firewire has always been the most reliable for some reason. You'd think that since it's a standard that they would all work the same but I guess it's just not as simple as USB2.
Of course if you don't have an external audio interface you could probably get away with using ASIO4ALL but that's not guaranteed to work because it's pretty much a vey well made hack.

Thanks for the reply. Information is much appreciated. I have a Lexicon Lambda I use currently (USB) that works fairly well with my older Dell laptop. Hopefully this will cooperate with Windows 7. Time for more digging before I drop the $1500.
