Heard aboat those Canadian customs, ay?

Try getting CRN to import a pressure retaining vessel to Canada when your not ISO 9001 registered.

Impossible....

I now have to supply to a company in the states and let them deal with the paperwork for any Canadian jobs as its so much easier...

Oh, now they've done it! Ableton is about to smoke the terrible wrath of the Khanadians.

In keeping with international customs documentation regulations we will not deface the GAA form, but let it be known that we are none too happy about it!

Go get 'em Ryan... let them know this is not how shipping goes down in Canuckistan!

Isn't NAFTA the North American FREE TRADE AREA? Not free of bureaucracy, evidently. IMHO the answer is to buy the download version, the box is just a waste of space and the printed manuals go out of date very quickly. Save some trees! (yes I know you have a lot of them in Canada, but still....)

Well geez, thanks for the warning guy! I'll be careful when I cross the border to buy german software.

Those rascalz at Ableton... I tried to get them to arrange my APC40 delivery and pick up some pizza on the way but they seemed to think it wasn't their problem.

What were the agreed delivery incoterms?

Do you need an IPR?

WOW, I hope you get that issue resolved as quickly as possible. I live in NY and I can't say I have had any problems with Ableton customer service, but I never asked them to help with International trade agreements either. I imagine that within the last year or so there has been a huge increase in Ableton customers and maybe the bosses have not added more staff to address all the issues as well, so they are probably gonna need to hire more people because I am sure they are getting a hundred extra emails a day from "producers" who can't find a record button or got a MIDI cable stuck into a microphone, on top of the regular volume of normal questions and concerns. Hopefully they hire some extra staff (and figure out how to mail their product to Canada!)

Why don't you buy the product from a canadian distributor? I've purchased online from canadian distributors without any issues. Also you can find this directly from stores in town (I'm in Montreal) - you'll be surprised that due to the loonie being higher than the USD you'll find even cheaper prices. I've also bought from US online retailers shipping to Canada and besides having to pay for GST/PST I've never had to pay duties as software and many electronics are duty free. Try not to use UPS as they have ridiculously high brokerage fees.

Again, I've purchased the upgrades for Ableton online and I didn't have any problems.

I'm wondering why it was shipped from Germany and not US?

In any case, I even bought something from Germany when I was still in the UK and it got stopped by customs... I had to pay a fee... it was annoying...

meanwhile, did you not get your serial number? you could use the download version
