Post by italofiorenza » Thu Feb 24, 2011 4:43 am

Is there any way to make ableton show waveforms from both the tracks i'm playing and the ones i'm about to play, such as in traktor:

...not hating here man, I just feel his pain. For djing especially, seeing both clips simultaneously in session view would be ideal. I only go to arrangement view to finish a track, which is to say that I rarely if ever go to arrangement view. It certainly wouldn't work for any type of live work.

I don't need to but for djing it would certainly be helpful. Often it would be advantageous to not only see the waveform of the track playing but also the one for the track you are about to mix in, or the waveforms of both if you have two tracks going at once. This would allow the dj to see when tracks are building, dropping out, etc without switching between tracks. A second horizontal readout for a second track would be nice; the top readout could be the selected track and the bottom one the previously selected track. This would be necessary in session view so that you could fire clips live; arrangement doesn't cut it for live djing.
