APP WIDE MACRO'S

Post by Martin Waite » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:36 pm

Would it be possible to have one 'Master' Macro that could control parameters on Plug-Ins, Instruments and effects across many different tracks within Live? Like one blank audio effect rack with a macro that could be mapped to every compressors release time or threshold in the whole project (would be useful in EDM when sidechaining). Maybe map several synth filter cutoff's to one macro. This would be massively helpful I think, and would save a lot of time

You can do this easily in M4L

Max4Live does lots of things if you know how to create or find the patches you want, and you had the resources to purchase max4live[/i]. I am really getting frustrated with requests for features in Live 9 met with answers of "you can do that with m4l."

We want these feature sets without having to buy/ learn a whole different application in order to get Live to do what we want it to! This is a wishlist, after all.

The upgrade for the suite alone is as much as I am looking to spend. And I want alot for that money!

I'd rather like to have Macros directly connected to VST-Plugins then through MAX4Live...

Would make automation much easier and make saved Instrument-Groups nice to handle via saved Macros.
No! I'll never use the Push-App Live 9 !!!

My apologies, with no Live 9 announced yet and beta's of 8 being fixes rather than feature adds i thought it reasonable to suggest a solution which is now and today and works...

it's no fault that you are working to help your ableton brethren achieve their goals. just seems on the wish list, if it's not in ableton itself, it's best not to suggest m4l fixes. ;]

the spirit of your reply is still deeply appreciated!

So with Max 4 Live it's possible to map parameters from anywhere in a project to a Master Macro, as in the macro could control parameters on multiple compressors, filters etc..? It would be nice for this to be implimented into Live 9 whenever that makes an appearance but if M4L lets you do this then I might have to give that a go until its possible in Live. Cheers for the help everyone, much appreciated.

Understand, but it's unlikely that many of the requests on this forum are ever going to be implemented into Live natively....

This sounds like a real good idea though so i agree, this should be a standard feature, i think one knob, and like you drag in parameters in VST racks you could pull in the parameters you want it to map to and set the minimum and maximum range...
