pay it forward (your unused equipment)

Post by nuxnamon » Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:56 pm

I'm sure there are plenty of us that have something we don't need in our studio that someone else that is less fortunate may need and can put to better use.. and be a nice guy and give it for free.. the universe will reward you..

anyways, i have a akai MPD16 midi drum pad i don't use anymore.. it's nothing compared to what's out there nowadays but it's free and it's better than banging ish out on your keyboard. just PM me if interested.

What a great idea, and also a way to attract more people to the forums.
I just wish I hadn't sold my unused stuff at a garage sale a few months back. Oh well, pretty soon I may have a shitty classical guitar and a tremolo pedal that are of no use to me anymore.

That's a great thing to do!
In a K induced Haze (the old K kind not the special K kind ), but an Asian spizz can sometimes bring me out! If ya don't get it, ya never will.

I already did this with a Roland MC909. My buddy here doesn't have much musical equipment and his wife has a deathgrip on his wallet.
Plus if I tried to sell it, there is no way I could get anything remotely near what I paid for it.

also did it for a friend on a nord lead 3, he was like bending over backwards trying to get a sound that i knew was on the keyboard. gave it to him for a steal, he sends me music all the time and just happy it's getting use. sometimes you do stuff just for others

w00t! Thanks to Nux, I am the happy owner of a new MPD16. And as the thread title says, pay it forward, thus I will. I am offering up my nanoPad and nanoKey, both work well, and have worked well for me. They may not be the greatest, but for anyone without ANY MIDI controllers they are a great start. PM me if you are interested.

Thanks again Nuxnamon!

I've also done this with an old guitar of mine. it didn't have any strings on and a minor piece missing. I was trying to sell it for 50€ even if it was worth way more, just cos I didn't care about fixing it and I already have too many.
a friend of mine saw it and loved it, since I knew he had an really old bashed one I just gave it to him.
he fixed the lil problem by himself, put new strings on and got himself a great guitar for free.
knowing he was playing it and loving it was worth way more than the little money I was going to make.

at the moment I haven't got anything to give, but I wanted to say that this forum keeps amazing me. it really is a great community.

not sure how exactly you people are solving the shipping, but yeah.
i've got an yamaha dx7, and one casio dm-100 (double keyboard, pretty damn rare) that needs a new home.
the dx7 is heavier then a freaking car, this is why i'm curious about the shipping.

Love the idea! Looking to upgrade to some new stuff soon, and I'll be posting what I don't need as soon as I do.

One of the many reasons why I love these boards
