Haha! Come on, look at it with some humor man. ;)
I like silly demo people much more then uptight, sour and dry. OK, maybe it was a crappy additive synthesis explanation, but when it came down to how to operate the synth, I kind of felt I got most of it just by watching the video. Much more so then NIs dudstep trailer bonanza video. anywayzzz

@beat me: Thats my thought as well. It might be a great versatile bass synth.

Razor is a CPU hog it seems. Many of the 'Poly' voices are limited to just 3 notes polyphony.

This is on my dusl core PC so I will need to install on my quad core PC soon to compare.

Many very useful sounds and lots of exploring.

Love the visual displays.

does anyone else have anything to report re CPU usage? it would seem that with all the partials, and swanky graphic diplay, it might be quite intensive?

Torley has put out a bunch of nice videos where he covers pretty much all the presets of Razor. Worth watching.

Hi there,

as the developer of razor i would to comment on this. I hope that is ok.

Razor is actually 6 voice polyphonic.

You referring to the 'Voice Limit' setting. If set to 3 the numbers of voices are reduced in case you play keys below 100 Hz. That is to safe CPU consumption.

This should not be a big limitation as polyphonic playing happends normally in the mid keyrange.

all the best,

erik

Listening to the Torley preset video, this thing actually has a lot more versatility than the demo trailer thing suggests. A lot more useful stuff than just wobblebass and filter sweeps.

NI did themselves a disservice by making the demo so 'LOOK AT HOW YOU CAN WOBBLE WITH IT!', IMO

I have a K5 and a K5M but they are both in storage somewhere. The K5 keyboard lost its responsiveness. One day...

Agree! Was listening to the pads on Torley's video and i'm sold out already. I like NI's videos in general, but yeah, i wasn't that much interested when i saw their video also.

Any word yet on the CPU use? I'm tempted to get Razor now after hearing it in action.

Additive synthesis is severely under utilized. I remember the old Kawai K5 from a decade ago. I had hoped it would make a bigger splash. We've been using FM for too long.

Looks really cool but could I use it as a VST inside of Live?

I'm looking at either Razor or Operator, any help?

You have to use it with Reaktor 5.5 or Reaktor Player (free from NI's website).
