My FIRST Ableton Live track is finished!! - Feedback please
Hi,
I am an ex-Cubase user that moved to Ableton to get some more creativity from the tool on the writing process. Writing this track and learning the ins and outs of Live at the same time has been a huge amount of fun.
I would love to have some feedback from more 'wisened' users - positive or negative.
In particular - does the track have enough instrumentation to be interesting? I hate over-cluttered music, but have now got so close to this, I can't be objective.
Also, I have worked very hard on the production. I was looking for tight but open production, again, this is my first attempt at thoughful mastering (I previously just played with eq a little to get rid of any nasties).
Its called Tramadol, and it's here:

Thanks in advance - I will use any feedback in my next project.... Can't wait!
Nick

i think it sounds pretty excellent....my only criticism is that i am missing the bass....its like i can hear it....but i can't feel it...you know what i mean? its missing the low end....but the song is awesome....not cluttered at all in my opinion.

beautiful song!
I agree with the lack of lower frequencies though, you can hear that some "physical presence" of the music is missing.
and the pads in the beginning make a clicking noise, like a sampled that wasn't cut well?

Hi
Thanks for the compliments - that gives me a kick off confidence.
Useful comments about the low end. Early mixes had some rumbly distortion from synth and kick, so I maybe was a bit heavy handed - I'll let some of it back in and re-post if that's ok?
That click on the pad has driven me nuts! Its straight out of Absynthe and I cannot seem to get rid of it - any suggestions. It's the 'Brahms' patch....
Thanks again
Nick

Hi Again,
I have re-eq-ed this quickly at work. Is this the sort of thing you were talking about?
If so, I will re-do properly later.

thats better....but check it out...the verse kind of reminds me of radiohead "national anthem".....

to me......it sounds like the bass should maybe be more like this....more forward in the mix....more prominent...it feels like the bass is a little too much in the back ground, like almost on the verge of getting lost...but dude....please don't get it wrong the song and the mix is pretty amazing....100 times better than what i could do...this is just what I am hearing.

its funny i actually just spectrum analyzed your track compared to the radiohead track....like the bass frequencies are practically the same....crazy....maybe i am just tripping....i just got off working a 10 hour graveyard shift....and im sick....don't listen to me....the track rules..
