Hi,
I'm relatively new to Ableton Live - but over the past few months I have been exploring it more deeply ...
I have been building up some practice sessions for jazz tunes - a bit like home-made Aebersold tracks - I choose some drum loops, record a bass part - then sometimes add rhythm guitar - sometimes I only want bass and drums. I have used the count-in for recording - that's all fine - but I've not been able to set a count-in for playback - so I've had to use Ableton as a rewire slave to Protools (v9) - so I can use the count-in in Protools. This works but I often get CPU overload errors - even in my 2.4 GHz Macbook Pro with 8GB RAM - I seem to have minimised the errors after playing about with the playback settings in PT9 - but if I could set a playback count-in in Ableton I wouldn't need both Ableton and PT9 running.
Does anyone know how to set a playback count-in in Ableton ? - I could add a couple of bars of side-stick drums to the beginning of the arrangement - but this seems limiting and a little inelegant !!
cheers ....
Count In for playback
Re: Count In for playback
There isn't if you're working in the session view since it's not very common. You could record a blank midi clip as a work-around, or work in the arrangement view to give you a pre-role.
