EQ3 for DJing

Post by tomur » Mon Apr 04, 2011 2:58 pm

Hi,

i use Ableton for DJing and live mixing but i have a problem with the EQ3
when it is on his basic settings it distorts the whole channel.
most of the music is near to 0 db Headroom.

how can i fix this issue easy?

Annoyingly, it's a known problem with EQ3 that it colours the sound when it's on, even if the settings are all at neutral. Pain in the ass, right? :|

Best options are to use EQ8 in hi-quality mode, and map the parts you need (I think someone made a rack where the controls look like EQ3 but it's made out of EQ8, maybe it's in in the tips and tricks rack list somewhere)...there are also some 3rd party VSTs that emulate DJ-style eq controls so maybe try some of those too.

I'm not a DJ so my apologies that I don't have the specific links to hand...but hopefully this points you in the right direction anyway.

I made the version with EQ8, you can find it here:

It's called EQ3.8.
