Skrillex Poll

Post by bbart318 » Fri Apr 08, 2011 8:15 am

I only know people who either really like his music, or really hate his music.

I'm personally loving it. However, anyone that's driving next to me most likely doesn't.

He seems like a good guy, but I don't like his music. Mostly cause I don't like dubstep in general.

Its funny, even though Im getting more into dubstep these days Skrillex is very hit and miss. On one hand he makes a remix to Cinema thats absolutely fun as hell to listen to. But here and there, there are some tracks that seem sub par, musically anyway. Very good with his melodies.
Because Whatever.

Too much wankery for the chin strokers

But for every genre there has to be the excessive cliche abuser of commercial excellence. He's made his place in the world.

Personally, his stuff makes me feel like I'm having my genitals sandpapered while being examined by a heavy-handed proctologist.

But hey - people seem to like his stuff and he does it with conviction, so fair play.

You know: for kids.

I'm not a fan of dubstep but I admire his production techniques. He has a lot of talent with chopping things up and arranging them in an interesting manner. I wish he made drum and bass. I'd love to hear him put those crazy basslines over something in the 170 zone but hey that's just me. I don't know him so I can't comment about him as a person. I think he looks like Corey Feldman.

I can recognize the talent in his production, but honestly it all just sounds like today's typical brand of cheesy dubstep.

Yup.

Looked him up because of this thread. Mediocre commercial duckstep all the way. Wank.

him and excision started the whole transformer noises thing, which brought wobble basses up a whole new notch of heavy. no one being able to top this, just emulated this sound, and now they get the hate for causing all dubstep to sound the same.

Noise competitions...where does it end?! LOL

Seriously, I dont know what certain people find so pleasing about really loud annoying sounds positioned in a way that is often barely musical. I love dubstep, love dnb, but both genres have suffered greatly in quality since they moved towards making the most annoying in your face wobble/lead sounds imaginable. Dubstep made such a radical shift to this it blows my mind sometimes, it couldn't be more polarized now.
