This is how I feel about Skrillex (which isn't real dubstep but a lot of people seem to categorize as such).

It's WAY too much being thrown in with no real substance or feel behind it. Technically interesting, but vacuous... and somewhat obnoxious.

I myself like to apply some interesting sound design and edits here and there to my own tracks but I'm trying to keep a balance. Don't want to get carried away and cross that line.

aqua, I've actually dug your 80s inspired dance tracks on the ReveNOVO album.

If Pitch Black can resist the move towards dubstep, so can you.

Be strong, my friend. Be strong.

I like how the wobble bass notes land differently & broken sounding.

You took the words right out of my mouth.
Anyway, looking forward to hearing your tracks when I get home since work blocked the site

Thanks, lads!

@ LSZ, what can I say? I succumbed to the dark side.

I'll keep working on the 80s inspired stuff as well. Got kind of a multiple music personality thing going on

Hey. Haven't gotten through them all yet, but that Snap Remix is fucking brilliant. Well done.

Dubstep is growing on me :(

That would have sounded so much cooler if played on a fretless bass with a BUTTLOAD of chorus ala' Mick Karn.

As for Bassnectar - I'm not a fan. His songs are too repetitive me and don't really make me want to dance. If they were too repetitive but made me want to dance, then I wouldn't mind. If they didn't make me want to dance but were interesting, then yes. If they make me post about how and why I don't like it, then no.

Yeah, though - nice track!
Went to a Bassnectar show in Santa Cruz a couple of months ago and it was the dance and sonic experience of a lifetime (except maybe the Wish You Were Here/Animals Pink Floyd tour in '79). Loudest damn music I ever heard and brilliantly designed to shake the spine, brain and chakras into a frenzied ecstacy. A peak dance experience. The drops were ridiculous. The wobble was skull shattering in a delightful way. Went with a very sexy woman and me and her really showed those kids (all ages show) how to move. Smoked a couple hits of good herb, but felt like I was on major psychedelics.

I would really love to know how he produces his beats, bass and synths. Sometimes I think I hear hardware. His swings and grooves are very original to my ears.

Or I should say "track after next".

Here's another "masterpiece" I started today.

You're like the master of whatever you touch. Not always my cup of tea but you mastered it. :) I think this track could use a little boost in the tempo though.

Now when are you going to get crackin' on that dubstep remix of The Lost Boys theme?

Thanks sir. Always flattered.

About the tempo, I actually toyed with a few different ones at first. Decided that I preferred it kind of slow like this for now. :)

And thanks for the reminder on the Lost Boys theme. Absolutely MUST be done.

I totally love that Don’t Stop the Music track and have tried messing with it a few times myself but it’s at an odd tempo that never seemed to really gel with whatever else I had going on. That’s probably why I honed in on the tempo on your version. It’s probably fine but I just don’t think a good remix tempo can be achieved with other outgoing and incoming tracks.

I guess you’re now the tempo master too. :x
