Ableton sales strategy disappointment

Post by deform » Wed Jun 01, 2011 3:33 pm

Last month I upgraded to Live8 suite with Max4Live and I spent more than 350 euros (big save)...Now I see that the same upgrade+m4l is 79€+249€. I think that's NOT fair!

I shouldn't be too disappointed. The sale would only have benefitted you by 26 euros. Hardly the end of the world.

I once bought a hardware sampler for £2000, only for EMU to release a much more capable model a few months down the line for £500 less.

I think it's unfair that you got a cheap upgrade to begin with.

Most dissapointing deal I had last year was upgrading another DAW for 200 EUR
The very next day, the upgrade price was slashed to 100 EUR

I wrote to them but never received a reply. :(

So are you saying that prices can only ever increase and should never be reduced under any circumstances?

...

Thought not.

yeah, kids these days haven't got a clue!

I bought a Yamaha A3000 for about 1500 quid in 1997 which I had to get a bank loan for, and when I left the UK in 2005 it was so dated I sold it to my cousin for 50 quid... Ableton is partly responsible for this by making it so that I could do it all on my computer without needing the sampler so I think they should pay me the 1450 pounds difference.

yes and then Ableton should give Angstrom and Jarvismon a refund as well because they bought theirs before you.
