Hey guys,
Im trying to record MIDI using patches from my Roland Fantom G keyboard. However, when I try to record, the sustain from my pedal doesn't get recorded a lot of the time. In contrast, sometimes notes sustain even after my foot has left the pedal. Any idea as to why this is happening?

are you recording in loops?

No not recording in loops. Just recording for as long as I want, then pressing stop. Then making a loop. Should I record in loops?

nope, i was just wondering as sustain messages sometimes get messed up when recording while looping.
are you sure the pedal is working properly? use a MIDI monitoring program to test that the sustain on/off messages are being sent/received correctly.

Hey when I go to CC64 in the midi clip envelope, the purple automation line is at 0 throughout the clip. Does this mean the MIDI messages aren't being sent.
Also, Im an amateur. Where can I get a MIDI monitoring program, and how do I use it?
Thank you for your help

there are a couple of free options.
for Windows:
http://www.midiox.com/
for Mac:
http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/
both pretty easy to use. they will allow you to monitor the various MIDI ports available to your computer, and see what messages are being sent/received.
