Use Massive in Ableton - Reinstalled Massive & Ableton

Hey there,

i got a Problem with Massive and Previos Projects

I had to reset my Macbook and i reinstalled Ableton.
After that i reinstalled the Massive Synthi and opened an old Project with nearly
6-7 Massive Presets - but now all Massive Sounds contain the Preset-Massive Sound and
of course i don't know which Preset or Setup i Made with Massive!

Is there any way to get my old Setups?
I made a Backup of my Macbook before i reinstalled everything - could there be any helpful data
and where can I find it?

That's always a fear I have when I have to reformat or migrate my system. I have done it a dozen times over the years and I can still open and edit old songs from all software I have used over the years right from the DOS days thankfully. The trick is over planning and paranoia.

If you have a backup of your macbook then that's a perfect start. If you have disk image software to do it (on PC Acronis is the best and easiest I have ever used) then make a backup of the system you have now.

If you can reload your previous backup you should be able to see what the presets are at least for the track you need and export the individual presets. Then you bcan load them into Massive on your new install.

Not the most ideal but my assumption would be that Ableton should store the preset within the project and shouldn't have anything to do with Massive unless its a difference in version?

The only other thing I could think of is to do a folder "copy". from the old setup to the new. Once you install Ableton and Massive, copy over the installation with the folder data from the other system. Be sure to also include any data folders that may be in another location.

i just searched for every file that has to do with massive (on the backup-drive), copied it and now it works!
Puuhh - saved a lot of work and time...
