Still, one the best hardcore bands ever.
Remember they were sleeping on peoples floors and barely surviving in the first video.
All I thought with the second was that it was cool that people under 35 remember who they are and that they probably made some nice cash at that show. Also top three hardcore band names: Bad Brains, Black Flag and Fear! 8)

Weird to see footage of them pre dread locks! 8O

no doubt they made some cash but man it kind of hurts to see hr like that, I remember after I first heard them I didn't hear music the same way anymore.

I heard them after Dead Kennedys, Fear, and Black Flag, they fit right in that bunch as the best of breed for sure! I get you though, I never thought that much of HR as a front man until seeing live footage of them! 8O Sad part is they're the only one of those four I never saw in their heyday as a 15 year old kid into hardcore punk.

I'm suprised there hasn't been any proper doc on them, at least that I know of. Everything I've seen in that regard just skims the top.

There's a pretty good one on hardcore in general, American Hardcore, it skips San Francisco and barely covers anything besides Boston, DC and New York, but it's pretty good. A lot of Cro Mags and a good amount of interviews with HR and Bad Brains footage. They should have called it East Coast Hardcore though..

Looks like they're making a documentary on the Bad Brains BTW!

I always thought it was interesting that hr was Ian McKay's idol in the early days. A black stoner punk inspires a straight edge white boy who shaves his head.

I think Bad Brains was one of my first punk tapes we used to rock out to on my mini ramp.

that's the thing about them, my music probably couldn't be father from bad brains but they have inspired
me more than any other band or group or musical artist by leaps and bounds.
