Following a tutorial, having some issues

Ive been following Tom Cosms 10 part series of Live Tutorials. However in Part 2 we start adding in a bass line using analog. I noticed his notes played out, while in my player my notes are always short. Using the computer midi key board, i made some short notes and long notes, however no matter how long they are they just play a short note. same if i play the note on my keyboard, the note is just a small bleep, instead of what should be a bleeeeeeeeeeeep. I've watched over and over on the second video but im doing exactly the same things. so how can i fix this? further inspection shows that if i hold the key down, the note only plays a little, bit as opposed to a long note. and his continues on. I'm baffled, i even looked at all his settings when i paused the video and they are the same as mine.
