The Scenario
A pair of you are doing a live set with two computers, the slave computer crashes for some reason and needs to restart. One computer is left keeping the set going.
The second computer is ready to go again. Live recognises there is a midi clock/sync signal... and gives the option to "JOIN SYNC", upon clicking the triggered part will start on the next bar/4 count whatever and the set continues.
If the master crashes (computer 1), the slave (computer 2) continues to play and the master can join the slave... swapping Master/Slave roles. Computer 1 is now slave and Computer 2 is now the master.
