Pre/Post Fader

I don't really get what this switch does. Can anyone explain with an example maybe?

I know I can use the info panel to educate me. But still I don't quite get it and that's why I asked for an example.

Let's say I have a reverb on a return track and I send a melody to this return track. I don't hear any difference between when the return track is set to post or pre.

To reword the above poster with an example. If Track 1 is sent to a Return track:

Pre = no matter what level you adjust Track 1 to, it always sends out the full level of audio (with respect to the send knob amount) to the Reverb. You could have Track 1's level at -inf, hearing none of the original audio, and you would still hear full sound from the Return channel

Post = the volume slider will affect the level sent to the Return channel. It is part of the chain now. If you crank up the send knob, but set your fader to -inf, you will not have any audio sent to the Reverb.

Pre/post are Pre (before the) fader and Post (after the) fader. That is what part of the audio chain the Return channel will pull the audio from

I thought it was referring to the fader of the return channel but I get it now
