Stereo Send Problem
Stereo Send Problem
I often record my guitar in stereo. I record the track for each side in mono. I have one track panned to the left, and one to the right. But I have a wierd problem with the sends.
I send each track to a separate return track. Whether I pan the return tracks or not, the sound only comes through the left channel for the sends. I'm not sure what is going on. It's as though anything that I try to send from the right channel is not being sent to the return track.
What could be going wrong?

Re: Stereo Send Problem
I don't see anything obviously wrong there.
If the first lights up when playing back the signal would definitely be entering the chain. If then the one after your Guitar Rig doesn't light up, the fault would definitely be with Guitar Rig.
You can check this by selecting your B-Return. In the effect chain there's level meters before, between, and after the effects, so you can watch your gain staging.Kruddler wrote:It's as though anything that I try to send from the right channel is not being sent to the return track.

Your setup in Live looks good - like chrk, I don't see any obvious problems there.
I noticed that your return tracks are both "Guitar Rig", so I presume you've got Guitar Rig loaded as a plugin on those returns. Any chance that that's a part of the issue?

Thanks guys. You pointed me in the right direction. For some bizarre reason Guitar Rig only takes the left signal by default. WTF?
At the top of the Guitar Rig UI, there are two small icons labelled L and R. I just had to enable both.
Nice work Native Instruments.

Re: Stereo Send Problem
No idea why it defaults to the left channel, but glad you figured it out!

Aye by default Guitar Rig expects a mono input - ie your guitar connected to your interface, not to be used as an effects box further down the line.
It's either that or it boosts noise on an empty input / channel and non-techy guitarists get all confused as to why.
