Apple sucks ' SOLVED! (Apple rocks!)

Post by nowtime » Wed Aug 17, 2011 11:52 pm

I used "software update" (for the first and last time) on my 2007 MBP. Laptop froze upon restart. The update never got installed. But that's when my USB-midi got sick with random malfunctioning.

Soon thereafter I got a 2011 MBP with 10.6.8 and I am having the same issues. Random crap, sometimes a button works, sometimes not (especially on my BCR and BCF). Midi-in sometimes does not work. EC/24 -USB card froze the laptop once. The 10.6.8 update is the only variable - the (old computer) system worked perfect before.

Could the midi window in Audio/Midi have any relevance? Always considered that window useless. It shows only one Behringer instead of two, not sure if that matters.

I guess you could still get a substantial amount back if u were to sell a 2011 MBP and get a high spec'd Windows machine with change to spare if it really is so bad.

No backup to restore from? Did you repair permissions? Try redoing the update install? Maybe try downloading the updater and not doing the automatic thing? (think this may be called a Delta updater or something, don't quote me)
Just some ideas

Im gonna go out on a limb here and say it may not be the computer but actually really shitty midi controllers that might just be broken.

You are comparing an old 2007 MBP to a 2011 MBP.
A lot will be different, not just the OS.
Software Update will have nothing to do with this.. as you did not use this on your new 2011 lappy.
10.68 is not 'the only variable'.. your dealing with an entirely different model of laptop.. 4 years and a couple generations apart.

If audio/midi Setup shows only one Behringer device...
Ahhh.. well...
Then the 2011 lappy is only seeing one Behringer device....
That explains why one is 'not working'.

USB connection might be spotty (old cables, etc).
Check your USB connections/ connectors.
Try each Behringer on a separate USB port.
Determine if each on is fine on their own.
You will need to determine if this EC24 USB card is not playing well with your new lappy for some reason, or it is broken.

You really are starting this troubleshooting at ground zero here.
Hope is goes well.

Seems like your software got corrupted, please download and install the delta update for 10.6.8 and make sure that any drivers you're using are up-to-date...

And don't believe the "my PC is working fine" crap, your Mac should do what it is supposed to do!

Let's try to give some advice to solve the issues, instead of bashing...

Lets not turn this into a Mac vs PC debate.
My Mac has given me ZERO problems in 3 the 3 yrs. I've owned it.
PC's are cool too!

Honestly it's just an operating system.

All computers can fuck up in any way imaginable!

I'll never understand why you "guys" throw money away to support an elitist cult of personality.
