All the moaning hate and stuff...

Post by keefbaker » Mon Aug 22, 2011 11:35 am

Yeah, so Ableton hasn't gone up a version number in some time... But since v8 we've had the following additions...

Max for Live...

All the additions for the above and extra devices like Granulator...

Amp...

I mean... Amp was the last addition to the default set and that was nearly a year ago but since then max addons such as the API modifiers, granulator and all so if you own the full product I don't think there's been a 6 month period without new content...

And stability-wise for me it's been bob on since 8.1.4 on both my mac laptop and my win7(x64) PC. The only crashes I've had have been because of dodgy plugins.

So... I don't see how anyone reasonable can say it's dead. I mean... I've only brought out comp tracks since my last album in early '09. Does that mean I'm dead?

No..

No it doesn't.

except that max for live is an add-on that you purchase.
i'd rather have a working looper and a working share feature, since that's what brought me to the bank to begin with.

Yeah, I don't think it's dead and hopefully the imminent release of MAX6 indicates that something is cooking in the Ableton kitchen too. A bit farfetched, I know, but it's probably my wish to see L8 die with its bugs and have a proper L9 to add to my rig that's talking.

How dare you bring logic and reasoning into our dogmatic hatefest.

Joking aside, I agree- I don't see what the fuss is about or where the "is it dead?" sentiment came from. There are some features we'd all love to see and there are some stability issues some people have found and so they're presumably working on it. In the meantime their product was worth the money and I like using it. I'm really glad Ableton is spreading out releases since that has very nicely addressed the old "upgrade treadmill" argument.

I like Ableton Live and it won't change ... unless Live 9 would be crap ;)
