Live loop sample configuration using the APC

Hi guys,

I just wanted to get people's feedback about how they're setting up their APC40s to grab loops on the fly of clips/audio tracks in the session view. I'd like to somehow map my encoders or other buttons the apc to set in/out points and then assign the loop to one of my clip launch pads in time. Any suggestions?

Hijacking the thread, but i've searched for "on the fly looping" for a while now and found nothing except mapping the set buttons on a clip. But i really don't see how that is helpfull since it will be for only one channel. Also shortening the loop by half seems to not work as good either. So what type of noon m4l looping is there actually?

There isn't....

You can look into remote scripts but you will always hit the limitation of only being able to loop a clip/track thats in focus...

Have a search on Cliphx though, you may find a solution there...

I tried to explain this to another person on this board. I guess he didn't understand. What i am talking about.
On my Apc-40 I have these items mapped to the (Play, Stop, Record buttons right above the x-fader) You can map them to what ever you choose. I only use Ableton for Live/DJ sets so, these 3 buttons we're not important to me. This method works great for me. I can ride out tracks as long as i want. Throw a Fade to greys on the out going track and you got some really cool sounding mixes.

What you need to midi map in live in order to loop on the fly.
no plugins, Patches or Hacks. You only need to map this on one track and it works across the board. When you hit the loop buttons only the track in view will loop all others will go uneffected.

Wow, this is really cool. So through all clips and channels? Or just all clips in one channel? Dont have my apc40 at home right now so i cant test it myself.

Yeah...Darren is right. Only the clip/track in focus. There are some looper patches out there, but all of them you have to constantly look and figure out what clip/slot or track you're looping. I'm sorry but that is a pain in the ass. By doing it this way, if the track/clip is in focus you know it's going to loop. You can also adjust the loop lenght, start, and end braces, as well as grid by mapping some of the other items in the same box. I just prefer a simple 1 bar loop. Also, another good way of loop is to run all of your audio out channels into one audio in or perhaps a send, and then route that to the master channel. I use audio channel 5/Fader 5 on my Apc for this in part to split up my set ,but I also have a bunch of effects on channel 5 so that way I can just effect a track slightly without completely drownding out the specific track I to wan't effect.
