beginner question

Post by mbira » Thu Sep 01, 2011 4:52 am

I'm not a beginner to Ableton, but I realized I've never done this, and I don't know how.

How can I take a highlighted loop that is in a longer clip and create a new clip with that part?

I have a full song in a clip that is playing live, and I want to be able to loop one section and have that become its own clip...

Thanks!

On windows, I'd first duplicate the clip (ctrl+d), highlight the portion, then hit ctrl+l (loop).

i would double click @ the beginning of the clip and split it ( cntrl E on windows, dnt know about Mac), and do the same where you want the clip to end. i would then consolidate it, which you can do by right clicking and selecting "consolidate" or Cntrl J on windows

It is Cmd+E on mac, I assume if you're working with a full song you're probably in arrangement view, but just for clarity, it should be noted that this only works in arrangement view, and not session view.
