here's a short VIDEO
I know how to set up TouchOSC and it does not work
over USB because of iOS restrictions.

I didn't know much about the UI designer, thanks for posting it, I assume this requires the line6 gadget.

What I really hope they add to that UI designer is a session view grid (with clip names) that works over midi and therefore a wired setup. I guess that is very live specific for something that is meant to be generic. I'd buy an ipad for sure then.

Yo can run touchAble with an USB wired connection: you need a jailbroken iPad and mywi app from cydia.

Is this a special functionality integrated in touchAble or
should it work with e.g. TouchOSC, too ?

I remember experimenting with MyWi, but I didn't know what IPs
to listen / send to. I know where to look up the IPs on iPod & PC
when using WiFi, but not with MyWi...
How do you do that ?

This is how to do it with touchAble - it should work equally for any kind of software that needs a network connection to the computer:

Jailbreak your iPad (on iPad2 you will need to be on 4.3.3 or lower - http://www.jailbreakme.com )
Install MyWi 4.0 and open it
Enable USB Tethering in MyWi 4.0
Connect the iPad to the computer and you will automatically see a new network interface which has an automatically configured IP address and subnetmask.
If you did not change the IP address range within MyWi you will reach your iPad with:
192.168.21.1
and your computer with:
192.168.21.2

For some apps the WiFi module has to be disabled while you are using the usb connection.
Have fun :)

Thanks kooperativ!
Wanted to see if it works today and had to reinstall
MyWi because I only ran the trial when I played with
it some months ago - MyWi 4 worked on my iPod (I just
did not know how to set up ToucOSC to work over USB),
but since 3 days MyWi 5 is out and the only version available.
And MyWi 5 does not work at all and crashes my iPod all the time. :(
So I have to sort this out with the developer first...
