novation remote 25 sl - midi signals

Post by steviewonderful » Thu Sep 29, 2011 11:13 am

Hi,

I was hoping someone knew what was wrong with the following.
I am using a novation remote sl 25 with live 8.
It was all working fine.
However, now the novation recognises everything in live 8 and the correct parameters are shown in the novations led screen but nothing happens when i use the knobs or sliders.
The tap tempo is still working?
I can't even manually assign the midi map. ableton just cant seem to see it even though all of the correct information is displayed in the led screen.

Hoping someone has an idea?

Thanks

ps - in the ableton midi sync settings, the remote input port 2 is constantly highlighted orang where all other ports are in black type. regardless of which settings i select?

Are you using Mac OSX Lion? If you are it isn't compatable yet. If not then sorry :(

orange settings in Live generally mean DANGER.

reboot the computer and the SL and try again. maybe install the latest drivers for the SL.

Hello and thanks for the replies.

@ miqueas1, I am not using Mac OSX Lion. I am using a lenovo think pad, running on windows7 Pro 32 bit, (i know, install 64 bit).

@Tone Deft, I thought the highlighted orange area meant something was wrong, as whem I turn on the correct settings for the other ports they turn black.

However, the remote SL import port 2 will not change to black regardless of which settings I choose in Live.
The novation can recognise all of the settings and channels correctly.
If i click on autofilter, then the correct controls will be mapped to the correct parameters.
Also, the tap tempo still communicates with Live, but nothing else.
Live doesn't even seem to be recognising the midi signal from the controller, but the controller is recognising Live?
I am wondering if I have accidently changed a port or something on the controller that should be sending a midi signal but isn't, as the midi signal from Live definitely seems to be reaching the controller.

Frustrating, it was all working so well, bah.

Hey - I'm having the same problem with my ReMOTE 25SL, using Live 8.3.4 and Windows 7 x64. Did you ever solve this problem?
Thanks!

Orange just means another program is using it.

Figure out what is stealing the midi from your controller and then re-open Live.

what other applications (besides live) do you have open?

are you using a USB hub? if not,is there anything else connected right next to the sl25?

if no other applications are running in the background...
and the answer to the 2 other questions above are "no"...

- disconnect the sl25

- Uninstall automap+drivers

- download and run this:
http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=sup ... ivers&f=84
(removes "phantom drivers" from the registry)

- restart the computer

- install the latest automap+drivers from novation.com

- Plug in the remote-sl25

- Launch Live and see what's what

(recommendation: remember to which specific USB port you plug it for the 1st time... and always use that same port for the sl)
