list of VSTs for OSX

Post by digitalia » Thu Mar 13, 2003 4:18 pm

hey guys
does anyone know of a good comprehensive list of what fx plugins are available for OSX as VSTs? i know there are some good resources out there like osxaudio.com but they tend to list stuff as being AU yet fail to mention if it's still VST to be used with Live on OSX.

on that note, any idea on the timeline for when Live will support AU plugins?

Cheers,
d

hey, thanks for the links...

i cant seem to get the digitalfishphones happening in Live - i dragged the .vst folders into the VST folder in Library>Audio>Plugins with the rest of the ones i collected, but those don't show up.

from the readme i gathered that these being Mach-O VSTs, they should work in Live. am i wrong?

Did you set the path for vst plugs in the preferences (general I think)?

no such: yeah, i have the right folder set, all the other VSTs i dragged there show up fine.

it looks like Live doesn't support Mach-O after all - great just what we need, ANOTHER plugin format for OSX...

try removing the plugins from their folders in you main vst folder. sometimes they wont show up if they're buried within folders.

ok, digitalfishphones stuff don't work cause it's Mach-O (or "Mach-O-no!" as i've tentatively dubbed it). Green Oak stuff doesn't show up either, dont know why, and neither does FrOhmage - which is a major bummer to me...

ones that do seem to work in Live 2.0.3 on OSX: mda, Destroy FX (wikked stuff, by the way) the pluggins that come with Spark XL, RoomMachine and RubyTube (can't remember where I got those last 2).

i figured those one's out thru trial and error - having some of the others that dont show up also caused others to not be seen by Live.

any other cool freebies out there i might be missing?

cheers,

Prosoniq's Northpole Rez Filter is free. Their Orange Vocoder is not free. Both work with OSX.
