sweetwater has a $200 price drop on Live 8
could we be getting near live 9?

either you are on to something or Ableton has realized that the price is very high compared to other DAWs with the same amount of features, zzounds has a price drop also. I still love live but 8 put me off with all the bugs and my gear being stolen too I hope 9 is coming and maybe my motivation to make music will come back.

I started looking into purchasing Live last November and the price has pretty much always been $499 @ most online retailers, with the occasional drop to $399. So it's more like a $100 price drop. I snagged it for $399 a few months ago, but I certainly don't think a $500-600 price tag is overvaluing it.

True. Feature monster Cubase can be now obtained 360USD. I don't see any reason Live cost more than that. I think around 200USD is fair at present.

Why do people keep suggesting that Ableton is going out of business? They make one of the most popular DAWs and have popular hardware deals with it to boot.
