FLstudio will have a session view !

Post by Tweaking Knobs » Wed Nov 09, 2011 4:53 pm

FLstudio is adding a session view to FLstudio.

Thats cool because you can trigger clips but also Automation clips.

Plus you have all the advanced midi editing that live lacks, plus real lfos, bezier curves, envelope followers

the awesome step sequencer...

Didn't it have that before? It was just called the "live mode"..

brilliant

I deserted Fruity Loops for Ableton many moons ago but with this, and mac support, i may move back, or at least run them both.

imagine line deserve more credit for FL than they get... it is great software.

That's a pretty cool implementation.

Ah, I like that combo session / arrangement view a lot. Being able to actually see the midi makes it all tangle. I'm always in for visual feedback. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

Session View is kind of the canonical feature of Live. After Ableton's success, I think that a lot of "performance looper" software is going to spring up. FL has this, I think Sonar has something like it now, and I imagine that a lot of DAW software will be adding similar features.

Since copying each others' technical features is fairly commonplace, and there aren't a lot of general techniques that flat out require one particular DAW, I imagine that the major differentiating points are going to be implementation and interface. I'm interested to see what everyone comes up with.

Mac support? Where? I don't think it will be never supported, I was a FL Studio user too.

ORLY ?
you've not been paying attention my friend
Thanks to everyone who has showed interest in the FL Studio for Mac beta testing.

We have been working with CodeWeavers for the past year or so in developing a special version of FL Studio that runs in a customized Crossover wrapper (a Windows emulator/wrapper). This means that you DON'T need anything else (like a Windows installation, Boot Camp or CrossOver) to run FL Studio on Mac OSX. Just install FL Studio using the supplied .dmg and away you go!

I do not need much of any developer effort to compete with Ableton, which "stopped in time, at least right now."

I think quite the opposite. I think ableton is hard at work updating MFL to work with the max 6 update, and whatever else they are going to do with live 9.

It's got to be a process to update and have that work with another companies updates. This has to produce many bugs that need to be fix way before we get to see it in beta.

Everyone is chasing ableton's ideas so they just need to keep steady on their course, and put out a good update that other companies will have to catch up too.

FL is my favorite app but as for working with audio clips, Live is much easier for me.
