Live 9 - Prediction
Re: Live 9 - Prediction
i think since other presonus products are, it should be. and by the likes of the picture i saw on someones desk that I ca not mention, it looks like not only has the wait been worth it, but apparently two of the best companies out there will merge and/or Ableton is in the process of being sold. David Kilatimeier, the German rep who introduced Ableton to the American Press years ago, has also "mysteriously' re-appeared as Presonus' new VP of marketing and technology.

Oh no! I hope Ableton doesn't go away. It's an amazing company. Why is it being sold?

so eh, you got a source on this perhaps?infiniteB wrote:presonus has made a mysterious purchase with 2156 Ableton patents involved...hmmm. and jan. 16 set aside for a shareholder's announcement.

I dont like presonus pricing scheme, I would hate they bring that model bussines to live. Hope if there is a merge or buyout they will develop awesome stuff.
Re: Live 9 - Prediction
This makes sooo much sense. Live Studio it should be. Separate and apart from Live Performance : two products. However, they could be modular and able to compliment each other if required.philter wrote:my guess is they have gone as far as they can with the Live/performance product and are building a Serious DAW to rival Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools as a new seperate product.
Im guessing there will be a live 9 with maybe upgraded interface a couple of new featurs and not much else.
And a seperate product called Ableton Studio or something that will feature much better arranging and mixing facilitys.
its been far far too long for it just to be an upgrade for live and they must be feeling that the more they try to turn Live in to a studio DAW the worse it becomes for performace. Would make a lot of sense having seperate but somewhat compatable products.
Maybe something along the lines of how reason/record was manged.
fe real!

I originally bought Studio One Pro for $199(AudioMidi Special). I then paid $99 for the V2 Pro update this past October.
The Melodyne Essential 2.0 upgrade is free.
I love S1; powerful, yet quick and easy workflow.
There are a lot worse pricing shemes out there............
My mind's starting to swirl with the possibility of Ableton+Presonus+Celemony.
It makes so much sense; Ableton has been focusing hard on the DAW/Arrange side of Live and partnering with Presonus(ties with former Ableton employee), who have a hit a home run with S1's killer workflow.
Something's happening big...

Re: Live 9 - Prediction
This would be kind of lame. Part of what makes Live so interesting and great to work with is the coherence of Live and studio work. Anything you do in performance can be brought to the studio and vice versa. No other program can do that, I don't see why the would stray away from their core strength.evon wrote:This makes sooo much sense. Live Studio it should be. I doubt at NAMM 2012 as it cost too much to have a stand there and is really a complete waste of money.

Re: Live 9 - Prediction
the question is, is NAMM 12 pre or post the end of the world?CFM wrote:I doubt at NAMM 2012 as it cost too much to have a stand there and is really a complete waste of money.
because if it's post then it would surely be a waste of money since half the world would have hysterically killed themselfes in a fit of major delusion while the rest of us are stuck with the economic crisis. if it's pre, then well.. statistically speaking some of these nutbags might as well be the 1%.
Re: Live 9 - Prediction
Forget NAMM.
My guess is will see an announcement in the last two weeks of January.
Why? I'm going with the Presonus connection.......
cue spinning roulette wheel.

That spelling "David Kilatimeier" is not coming up in Google. I want to see if there is any info on what this person has been into previously. Can you double check that?infiniteB wrote:David Kilatimeier, the German rep who introduced Ableton to the American Press years ago, has also "mysteriously' re-appeared as Presonus' new VP of marketing and technology.
