Midi record- Wait for note

Post by Brookwood » Fri Dec 02, 2011 12:17 am

I'm absolutely flummoxed that I can't set the record mode to wait for a midi note to start recording. I was doing this with Vision in the MID EIGHTIES!! So for the rest of my life I have to either wait for a countoff and/or edit the beginning of the bar? That is extremely poor work-flow, and SO SIMPLE to implement. Please tell me I'm wrong and there is such a feature.

Sucks having to re-edit MIDI after recording to make things fit!!

I just discovered this was missing and was surprised at such an obvious and unfortunate omission. Wait-note record mode is an extremely useful feature for recording, one that I've used many times in the past with Opcode's Vision and on my E-mu XL-7. Enable wait-note, start playing, and the sequencer automatically begins recording, with no gap at the beginning of the track. It's a much better workflow than the current options (count off, or trim the head after recording EVERY TIME), and it really needs to be added to Ableton.
