Doesn't this work? It did on my Hackintosh. (Now I have a macbook to get 3-directional inertial scrolling so couldn't say anymore)Scratch-D wrote:mouse scroll = zoom
control + mouse scroll = vertical scroll
simple enough just like acid and all the rest of the daw that everyone is used to using...
Re: Re:
not sure about macs, but never on pc since I've used it (v2 thru v8) on any OS (XP-Windows 7), at least that's my experience trying to mousewheel zoom in arranger view on pcsPiplodocus wrote:Doesn't this work? +1 +1 but wider than this, customised keyboard shortcuts to include everything (especially key functions like mute clip/note!) would improve workflow considerably.

I vote for Ctrl + scroll = zoom.
Or alt + scroll = zoom, just like in Photoshop.

Re: Scroll Wheel Zoom - For the love of GOD! Please.............
Another vote for CTRL+scroll wheel zoom.

if you get autohotkey you could do a sortof workaround using + and - like so:
WheelUp::+
WheelDown::-
heh.
zooms around the insert marker.

Good call. I've done this by using a mouse with lots of buttons, including ones that are above and below then zoom wheel. The mouse software allows me to assign key commands to these buttons, so I have one set to the "+" command, and the other to the "-" command, and use them to zoom around the marker. Not quite as slick as the scroll wheel, but gets the job done.friend_kami wrote:if you get autohotkey you could do a sortof workaround using + and - like so:

while you're at it, might as well throw in some other stuff such as "s" for ctrl+e and i for showing audio inputs and outputs.quandry wrote:Good call. some of the shortcuts that ableton decided are so incredibly unergonomic it's nothing short of amazing.

It's mind boggling some of the features these major DAWS ignore. It's not even just Ableton. You'd think these guys don't actually use the programs they develop or something.

this is what i like about reaper, they simply solved the problem by letting the user write their own extensions, own macros and scripts and customise every shortcut, including shortcuts for their own custom macros.hmj wrote:It's mind boggling some of the features these major DAWS ignore. everybody can find their perfect workflow, since it's completely custom.
