Big Disaster!!
Big Disaster!!
Have some serious problems! I don't know how it comes but i have lost my mainfolder of Live. The folder where i saved my projects = everythings gone now! (probably i worked with a copy and the mainfolder was in trash) i cleaned my trash and folder is gone! Its on a iMac. so i don't know how i can recover it back i think i should get it back with kind of System recovery like on Windows.
Anyone can HELP!

Re: Big Disaster!!
No help to offer, but i also had basically this same thing happen to me on my new iMac. Can't figure out if it was a mistake i made myself or not, but i went to open a project i had been working on (Open Recent) and the name of the file was grey-d out, and the files were completely gone. Luckily i only had been working on 2 projects since i got the imac, and all my old projects were still there, but i'm not sure how they got into my Trash in the first place.

Re: Big Disaster!!
if you've no time machine (or other) backup, then ouch.
you can try Data Rescue, but the recovered files may not be named, so could be useless.
harsh lesson. and a shitty time to be buying backup HDs - prices are stupid at the moment.
anyway... http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php

I gonna try the demo of data rescue hopefully it helps
7 projects and 1 liveset is gone even of 3 projects where open for remixes
Re: Big Disaster!!
Be sure to back up before you use Data Rescue. Its a very good app and saved my butt a few times, but it is going to dig deep into that drive. Better to be safe...

Re: Big Disaster!!
For anyone who values the effort the put into their work for hobby or especially professional, I recommend the first thing done before making a single tune is sorting out an automated backup system.
My system has a network server that checks my machines on startup and backups all projects and samples when a pc is online. I then back the backups to an external drive weekly. All this is done with simple batch scripts, no fancy software and has saved me many times over the years and I have never even lost a single sample.

Re: Big Disaster!!
You cannot 'work' with a folder or file when it is in the Trash.
So... you might want to diagnose how your Live project folder is being deleted before doing too much work again (little brother hates you, drinking binge then you 'clean up', etc).
Hope you get the files back

is that supposed to be funny?. .what an asshole
Re: Big Disaster!!
I have no idea what pencil rocket was trying to do, I was trying to point out to the uninitiated that his utterings are less than usefull. "it's a virus" he says. Incredible work Holmes! (it clearly says "iMac", so not exactly virus central)
Re: Big Disaster!!
apparently!
internet, serious business.
meanwhile, hopefully the OP has recovered his projects

Re: Big Disaster!!
I would do anything to be in your place. Fact is I have a lot of trash on my main folder and I just can't bring myself to dump em all in the trash bin.derrick wrote:Have some serious problems! Don't feel too bad I can bet if you really check everything you lost is trash any way.
