Instrument packs

Post by Skeletine » Tue Dec 27, 2011 5:07 am

Hey all.

What's a good (preferably free) way to get good instrument packs for Live? A lot of the instruments I have now yell at me for not having Operator etc when I try to use them, and that's no bueno.

Any suggestions appreciated, aside from "Buy the suite!"

Cheers.

Hey, sorry for being vague. Yeah, VSTs would be perfect. I can't get the FL VSTs I've been using for years to work in Live, so I'm at a loss. When I open them in Live, each one just comes up as a white box.

I downloaded all the TAL plugins (or most of them), and stuck them in a new folder called VST. I directed Live to that as my custom VST folder, and the only one showing up in the Plugin browser is Tal-tube.. any idea why that might be?

Could be because you downloaded the 64-bit versions, which won't run in 32-bit

Also try restarting Live, clicking the Rescan button in the Preferences list where you specify your folder, and also try holding Alt and clicking Rescan for a full rescan.

I believe the reason the FL plugs won't work is that they're DirectX plugins rather than proper VSTs. I had the same problem with some of my Cakewalk ones

I downloaded the 64 bit, because I AM running 64, but switching to the 32 bits worked anyway. Thank you.

You can just buy Operator without buying Suite.

I did that, plus Sampler, been loving it ever since.

Is Operator worth it? I don't really know what it does.

Not sure if you can demo Operator, however Operator is the best SUB BASS/ Kick Drum builder in my book. It also makes a ton of other sounds, GREAT sounds. For me it has been plenty worth it.
