Do these audio interfaces recognize 3.5 mm microphones?

Post by anthonyaquino » Mon Jan 09, 2012 10:36 pm

Hi guys, I have a noob question, I think...

I have 2 audio interfaces: a audiotrak maya mkii pci and a tascam us144 mkii.
I cant get a 3.5 mm microphone to work with them, what am I doing wrong?
Or will only dynamic/condenser mic work with these audio boards?

edit: the 3.5mm mic is connected to a 1/4" adapter

Its a headphone with integrated mic (like telemarketing), a very cheap one...
I want it working to record ableton tutorials...
It works fine with the onboard audio but I cant get it working with the studio boards I mentioned above: tascam or audiotrak...

what do you mean with onboard audio? pc sound card? they often have powred mic inputs..

when its en electret mic capsule you need such an input and it wont work with a music production sound card.

why dont you use the sound card input ?

of cause you might be able to build an adapter and power it with a battery..

Yes, a pc soundcard integrated with the motherboard.

So... What kind of mic do production tutorials makers like sonic academy, groove3, pointblank, etc, use?

there are headset that can be run with 48v phantom power or with dynamic mic capsules.. thosse you can directly connect to your tascam interface.... maybe your headset is one of them..but when its made for computer soudn cards i doubts that..

ther are cheap headsets that work with your interface ..

such a thing for example

but.. you could google such things yourself and in your area..
