Why should we have used this software before talking about it? This thread is for forum users who haven't used BW. Isnt' it? Everyone is talking about it based on same information. Some praise blindly, some suspect the possibility. Nothing restricts argument. Why are you trying to controll this topic's discussion? Your attitude almost tells we shouldn't disscuss about BW's possible factors of plagiarism but should praise blindly (you said we just looked at screenshots of Bitwig Studio).

All I can really say about the GUI looking the same as live is:
Try to make a live skin that looks like bitwig!

I tried it, and, you come acros a lot of things that are different in more ways you could imagine!

Therefore I believe BW is not live 9 in disguise, but a new contender at the table.

this is how BW describes it..

An audio clip can contain multiple audio events.
You can chop and edit audio files inside a clip non-destructively and loop it all as a package.

I read that before, I guess it just puzzles my imagination somwhat. To me it seems to indicate a new idea of what a clip actually is. GEEZ so curious about this freaking beta, SO many questions.

Kinda strange the reactions here. A whole lot of people overreacting to how it looks, both from the camp of those who complain it looks too much like ableton to those who want to jump ship JUST based on how it looks. A different GUI isnt gonna make the software...just something to make you need to relearn a workflow.

Most folks are discussing / conjecturing about the product's *specific functionality* based on the screenshots and the various devices, tools and workflow presented therein. I don't think anybody here is saying they would jump ship because the GUI looks neat.

yeah but outside of a handful of features they advertised/announced, what is really going on is just speculation over jpegs. no sense churching it up. it could be three more years until something useable comes out of BWS.

But it certainly can come in handy.

this means that you could go beyond the 'one audio source only' restriction of a Session clip..
for the Arranger it's just a handy suitcase..

Sounds like you could finally do things like chop an audio file so it remains as editable audio, like this: http://vimeo.com/8455759
in a "Live clip"-like environment instead of just being sliced to audio being triggered within Drum Racks.

if live9 still cant edit audio properly, and render multiple formats, i would consider that an epic fail
