I am sticking with Live.

Post by Rave » Tue Jan 17, 2012 10:21 pm

Fook these new daws and controllers. I am staying with Live. It suits my work flow for producing. Live 8 to me was a revelation. The only things that they could add are nice to have features IMO I.e. better cpu handling and lower latency, dual monitor support and some melodyne type plugin. Eucon would be cool too but at the end of the day me = happy bunny

FYI i already use 3rd party plugs to fill other needs and can't see me changing anything else.

Long live Live and mad props to Ableton for freeing my mind with session view. Love u long time.

I agree. It would be nice if they made the automation in Session View better, and fixed the PDC problem, but whatever. I'm sticking with Live, at least until Bitwig Studio is released.

(me too)

a little 'adversity' is good for the soul...look at jack white

maybe in the future there will be a one-touch daw, where you choose genre from a dropdown, and hit a big button, out pops a fully mastered original track, radio ready...that will be the (shitty) day...im sure it would be very popular though

i hope to never fully master Live, that would be a drag imo

On my optimistic days I suspect that Live 9 and Max For Live will be incredible. Some kind of major advance has got to be in the works for it to take so long.

On my pessimistic days I suspect that Ableton are just finding out the sheer amount of work involved in adopting Agile programming methods, creating a stable architecture baseline and at the same time integrating a major third party software system (MAX) when you already have a mountain of pre existing legacy code.

I am sticking with Live as well.

It seems people think that the "means" will make the end result better somehow.

It doesn't.

Ableton Live, if they can't update it or something, I may look elsewhere.

Until then, I'm sticking with it.

I dont see why Id leave live. Bitwig is great for some competition, but BW would have to really crack open a new paradigm for me to switch [assuming said paradigm is better], and I just dont see that yet. So if its more or less the same workflow, well.... I just have my doubts that its as flexible, advanced, and as loaded as Live. BW will be pushed pretty far back in peoples minds when Live 9's released; I do believe the only reason everyone went kinda crazy when it was announcing the beta is a direct byproduct of the three year wait for L9.

tl;dr: I love me some live, and I just dont see me switching.

Live's dope for sure. They could make their arrangement page better by putting the volume controls on the left side but other than that, Live's tip top

I have only followed Live since ver 4. And even though I didn't always get what I wanted in each new version, I was ok with what they did accomplish. I don't expect the next version to be any different in that respect. However this large gap between versions does make me wonder.

I'm staying with Live because I like the workflow and I approached this as an investment when I put my cash down. I'm not walking away without there being an overwhelming reason to do so. With that said I haven't walked away from Reaper, Bidule or S1 either.

If considering switching DAW is based on which side of the screen volume controls are... Wow.

That's a fairly common feature request. He didn't say hes converting because of it.
