Does anyone else feel leaving your follow action up to chance is a flaw in Ableton?

I just feel the follow action in launch mode, can't be left up to chance in most cases. As an artist using Ableton at the same time as playing guitar and wanting a song to go a certain way, I need follow action's to perform perfectly. I should be able to calculate a specific amount of repetition's a clip play's for after which then the action will be put into affect.

no way, cool feature!

put a bunch of ambient/chill loops and clips in a set.

for every track put an equal number of clips that play no sound (I color those black, it can be a clip with the volume turned all the way down.)

set all the clips to random follow action, length of whatever.

now launch a scene, kick back and enjoy. after a while (when things hit a chill point) launch another scene, boom, starts over again.

Nope, I think this is a great feature. It might not be the feature you want, but that doesn't make it stupid.

not seeing why you cant have it be as precise as you are describing...not coming down on you at all, just wondering if you are missing the function, but...why not just line em up how you want and run it...you might need to dup them several times and just have it follow one after the other. randomness is not obligatory

I just think it's stupid because I can't have what I want, without manually making it be so... lol. Sound's like a simple fix but I got my hand's tied up fella's

OT, but I would like to see inter-track follow actions in the next update. (:

Do you have a solution? I'd like to hear your proposition.

Consider that another user might load up a column of glitches and FX, and use a crossfader to cut in these randomized effects. It's flexibility, man. Some folks are way outside of the box with Ableton.

Instead of moaning about something the program doesn't do for you, try and make it do what you want.

What I hear is you want it to follow a specific structure? As in, go 1-2-3-4-5-6 (or variations of that)?

The follow actions are mainly for semi-structured triggering for live performance. You want to make a structure so you can play along? Why not actually just hit RECORD and play the structure you need using your clips and as if by magic, it is recorded in arrangement just as you want. From there you can extend it and do whatever.

Sometimes it just takes a little effort.
