Poll: Who is sticking around and who is moving on?

Post by gorillaknuckles » Sat Jan 21, 2012 6:02 pm

Just wondering who remains happy with Ableton, and has moved on to a different DAW?

+1 to say you've moved on or -1 to say you're sticking around, but details are interesting.

Fanboys, please do not confuse this with a personal attack. It is a simple question, born only of curiosity.

+1
I know Live better then any other software, still use it for certain tasks but use Record, now Reason 6 a lot, working with/on Mainstage to replace the unreliable Live for stage.
Ableton "fixing it up" became a bit unreal so keep my eyes and ears open for alternatives. Bitwig could be the most suitable option otherwise might get Logic or PT. If nearly 3 years wasnt enough to get Live 8 to work properly, despite dramatic CEO declaration and "all their forces" focused on it, it is more likely that they are simply not able to handle it anymore. It is not case of they dont care or dont want to but rather fail attempting to. The idea that Ableton crew is silently and diligently working on ver.9 that will bring it all to happy ending seems more of wishful thinking ( of which I am not completely free off, after all invested more time in knowing, using, applying Live then anything else, not too keen to throw it all away)

The term "moved on" implies you're on to something better. In my opinion, there is nothing better. With that said, perhaps you should rephrase the question to, who has taken a step back?

Is Ableton Live perfect? No.
Is any other DAW "better"...... not even close.

Live is still a great DAW and I've tried them all. Enjoy!

Well i'm fine with ableton 8 also there a some improvements i want to see with live 9. If there is a trial version of bitwig i will give it its 30 days also i'm more excited by the new Traktor Pro that was announced

BUT...

i can't get rid of the impression that most of the recent "ableton sucks" trolls have a really low postcount and that they came out of their caves just around the time when the bitwig beta was announced.

just my 2 cents and btw: i love conspiracy theories
give a man fire and he will be warm for the night
set a man on fire and he will never freeze again

1) Moved to Cubase 5.
2) Made basically no music.
3) Moved back.

I upgraded within the last year, so Live 8 Suite still feels fresh to me. But having used Live since v2, i still find it uniquely creative and inspiring software (as in a different way I also find Reason - great combo for me!).

Wow, pointless thread. Some people are busy making tunes with Ableton as it is rather than waiting for new features.
