Once Ableton come out with a 64 bit version & especially if they include automation to session view, and Bigwig beta is released including bugs & quirks of it's own, I think interest in Bitwig will become subsided. It at least would be brought down from the clouds to being just another option available.

A new broom sweeps clean, and there's no way for anyone to know the little things already contained in Ableton that are actually missing from Bitwig until they've actually launched the program & tried to make music with it. We've only been told a few of the major things it has as selling points. So it's not safe to assume it will automatically include every feature Live has to offer with just this extra icing on the cake.

It amazes me the comments of intricate user experience type comparisons like it has "a better workflow", etc stated almost as if it's fact. Sure, that could be a possibility, but there's no way to know about user experience & workflow from a 30 second video and a few screen shots. It can take months of using a program to get a good idea of what an efficient workflow is with that program. The assumptions made about something that hasn't even been released yet are getting a bit out of hand. Besides a few overview type generalities, it's simply impossible to come to any conclusion how it compares to Ableton at this point. I think it's mostly the tension from the wait of Live 9 that people suddenly make their hopes reality in their own mind.

It probably wouldn't be a great idea to switch completely and right away anyway, most small business failures happen within the first 2 years with probability of failure being less & less each year thereafter...

The only feature that peaks my interest in the Bitwig announcement (that I also can't be reasonably sure of it coming to Ableton) is "generic tracks" where audio & midi should be able to reside on the same track. That sounds like something that could really help clean things up & reduce that amount of tracks needed. It would be nice to keep the midi clips on the same track after rendering to audio instead of saving them on another midi track or in a folder somewhere. But still have no idea how well or seamless that would be implemented...

I try to imagine a name as horrid as ableton (sounding like a nerdy chess program named chesston or a drawing program called pencilton.) But in my sickest imagination, I did not think up a name as horrid as bitwig. Perhaps earwig, a bug that gets in your ears while you are asleep and drives you mad, would be the only thing worse.

Earwig is much better. At least it's tangible.

If SOPA/PIPA, ACTA come into force, the BW will be suspended by the owner company of the original product. That is Ableton.

It would be a pretty fucked up thing to do. I can’t see it.
