Studiologic

Any people overlook these as they are pricey (88 key models start at about $550 in the USA) and seldom found at your local music store.

Trying to get him to break his vow?

You'll have to pay more than $199 to get aftertouch.

New Samson Graphite announced at NAMM has some of the stuff you don't want, but doesn't go overboard with it, remains small and light, and has aftertouch. Still no price info.

Doesn't go overboard?

It looks like a nice bit of gear but for someone that doesn't want ANY fancy controls I see faders, knobs, buttons, pads and transport controls... Hell, it has more controls on it than my MPD32.

I'm willing to bet the PK88 is expensive just because of the flight case but that's exactly what I need, no nonsense, just... need a jog wheel at least, lol. But it look sweet as hell.
yeh the line6 has a bit of a cheapness to it, and no aftertouch, but for 200?...

theres a vid on it in that link i put above

The main reason I posted it is that it will likely be the the/one of the cheapest available options with aftertouch (although they could completely surprise me with the pricing, I expect the Graphite to be a budget affair).

As far as the controls are concerned, yes, it does have just about as many as as many as a Nocturn/SL Mk II 49, MPK49, etc—but it confines them to a narrower band of the enclosure, which helps minimize the size (and hopefully weight) of the device.

If OP needs a keyboard with aftertouch that doesn't require him to pay for a bunch of stuff he doesn't need, this could be a good option.

If the requirement is a keyboard with aftertouch and absolutely no additional controls, whatever the cost, the right answer has already been mentioned: Studiologic or bust (or maybe the Doepfer or a Yamaha KX-8/88 if you need a full keybed).

I love my Korg Microkey... sits perfectly in front of my keyboard and is a great, no frills midi keyboard with all the modern features you'd expect...
