I like Live 8

Post by ollyb303 » Sun Feb 12, 2012 10:50 am

Live 8 is a perfectly good piece of software and I enjoy making music with it. I've had 2 releases this year already and 5 more scheduled on vinyl, cd and digital, all made with Live 8. In no way has my software of choice held me back, rather inspired me. I'm not waiting for a new version.

Just saying.

have to say that 8.2.8 is working very well over here...
not waiting for v9 to make music.. that's not to say there aren't things needing to be addressed..

this parallel is too much to ignore>

if you fail to support, or in any way complain about Live 8, you're killing African children and will be reported to Bob Geldof.

Mostly agree. But a 64 bit version would be useful. Not being able to use all the memory is Live's biggest limitation at the moment, IMO.

I love Live 8. I experience very few crashes and it runs quite smooth on my system.

I also don't think Live inherently has "a sound" to it. Sound design seems to be one of it's specialties, and at the end of the day I think what you get out of it is up to you.

You can do just about anything with this software (50 different ways).

There will be a new version eventually. (I just hope they don't call it Live 9, simply because I'm tired of all the whining about it.)

Vinyl releases! Congrats OllyB, I can't get anything on vinyl at the mo'

I too am very happy with 8. 3 house EPs and 1 DnB EP signed and ready to drop in the next 3 months. Ive got loads of work done and really haven't felt hindered in the process in anyway. Still I know some people have had troubles...I must just be lucky :)

Thank you and congratulations! Thanks for putting the whole, "where's Live 9" thing into perspective. True, new features are inspiring but it's not like Live 8 is useless. And if you can't make music with Live 8, than you probably can't make music, period.

Perhaps, the $250+ for the Live 9 update would be better spent on piano, guitar, or drum lessons. Or at least a down payment on a week at Dubspot. Seriously!

I may not make better music, but I would make it faster, if I could record automation to session, as well as 64bit cutting the need to freeze tracks on heavy sample bank drum kits.

just sayin.
