What is the best way to compose strings with legato and staccato notes in the same melody line? Do I have to have two different tracks going, one for each type of playing?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Best way to compose strings with legato and staccato notes
depends on the sampler and sample set
i dont think ableton's sampler support keyswitches, so 2 tracks or make a rack with your own keyswitch switching different sampler(use either super hi or super lo notes that are unused in the melody and key switch racks but that might cause issues with tails
if you use a 3rd party sampler(probably kontakt) they almost all support keyswitching

And if you're not using samples, but a synth?
