Apple also recently released new “Apple Audio Mastering Tools” which now only includes the “Mastered for iTunes droplet.” The tool is a standalone, drag-and-drop OS X utility that allows you to “automate the creation of iTunes Plus format masters” and preview music using the encoding tech Apple’s uses for the iTunes library.

I have no idea how Tarekith has been in business for so long, seeing mastering is so easy anyone can do it.

Apple hit posted their mastered for iTunes info, a little over hyped initially, but some good technical info and tools in there for us soon to be extinct mastering guys. :). Mainly it's just a tool to convert normal masters into the correct iTunes format. Doesn't actually master anything for you.

So basically, they want to downsample 24 bit 96 KHz instead of 16 bit 44 KHz?

But there's still hope. Maybe you just need to assimilate

I'll happily master stuff just for iTunes, as long as I can wear my apple earbuds while I do it.
