FM8 Tutorials

Post by jeskola01 » Mon Mar 05, 2012 1:36 pm

Hey guys,

Thought this may be of interest to some of you.

I've created a tutorial blog for FM8 similar to my other website for Massive (massivesynth.com)

Tutorials for FM8

http://www.fm8tutorials.com/

I'll be working on filling it up over the coming months, there's a fair few tutorials up already, 30 sounds for subscribers (free) and a short 5 part course to get to grips with the synth (also free).

Hope it's off use!

Steve

Seems like you have a lot up there already. The site looks nice too, a nice clean theme.
I think that FM8 gets too little love because people find it oddly confusing, so hopefully you can clear that up for them.

For some reason me and FM7 & 8 just clicked and I thankfully never actually needed a tutorial - which is odd because I hated the DX7 when it came out.

I suggest you do an Absynth tutorial site next. People love that thing but it seems hardly anyone understands how it works!

For some reason FM8 really does not make sense to many people. I love it. Still wish we could get midi out to trigger gear and other synths. I love the arp. Really fun to sound like daft punk.

NI has moved it's focus to samplebanks, machine, and traktor

I'd love for someone to put up a reaktor site. That would be one thing i'd pay money to learn from beginner to intermediate, then intermediate to advanced, instead of just learning from deconstruction methods

GReat contribution
In a K induced Haze (the old K kind not the special K kind ), but an Asian spizz can sometimes bring me out! If ya don't get it, ya never will.

Steve,

Thanks. Had a quick look. Very nice. I will definitely be digging in once my workload eases by week's end. Thanks for sharing the wealth. Really looking forward to this.

A new tutorial up today creating an acid lead sound.

This is not really an emulation of sounds made on Roland TB-303 because in FM8 this involves a bit different technique. We will use the modulator in combination with a highly resonant filter to modulate our carrier operator.

This will produce some very interesting effects which are suitable also for many other sounds not just 303 like acid synth lines.

There's only a few up just now but once get all the fundamental stuff down i'll start sharing the links. We're working on a very nice set of dubstep specific tutorials and a free sound bank all for Absynth - will share when ready.
