So yeah i decided to organize my samples into more easily searchable folders, but now my tracks can find the samples!

"Sample is offline"

I still have all of the samples, they were just moved, how do I tell ableton where they are??

View -> File Manager -> Manage Project -> Missing Files -> Locate -> Automatic Search (select search folder)

Also, if you do your sample folder organizing within the Live Browser, Live will be more likely to retain memory of where you've moved them to.

It takes a little longer that way with only one column & 3 file browsers as opposed to the finder of your main OS, but can save time in the long run when it comes to keeping Live sets organized.

"Collect All and Save" would prevent this, right?

Now here's something weird, I moved a sample used in a Live set from the Desktop to another folder with OSX finder while Live was closed. Then when I launched Live & opened the Set that used it, Live didn't show the sample as missing & knew where I moved it to. How did it do that? Seems it finds them like magic sometimes and other times you have to use the auto search.

When you move stuff around in the browser, Live takes note of it. Possibly, even if Live is just open you could move files outside of it and it may take it into to account but I'm not positive on that.
