Hi, I recently purchased a new macbook and Ableton 8. Today I've been having problems loading the software. It gets stuck on initializing software for about 10 minutes and once it finally loads, Live docent recognize my midi controller.
Im using a DIGI 002 and an axiom 49 midi controller.
I had the software running fine with the sound card and controller for a couple weeks up until today.
Ive moved all my 3rd party plugins to another location, deleted preferences, updated to 8.2.7, deleted the 002 audio driver repaired the library, repaired the disk permissions etc. and nothing seems to be working
I think an installation of isotope RX might have caused this but i uninstalled that and had no luck, and it still doesn't explain why Its not seeing any midi devices.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Lion - hangs on initailizing and midi ports missing

I'm not sure if this issue has been resolved in the meantime.
But these steps might help:
Live uses the Mac's system MIDI functionality. When there are no MIDI ports available in Live than there's obviously a problem with MIDI on system level.
Please try this:
- make sure Live isn't running
- open the Audio-MIDI-Setup utility. It can be found here: /Applications/Utilities/
- in the Audio-MIDI-Setup open the “MIDI Studio” window
- click into the configuration chooser and select “New Configuration…”
- close the Audio MIDI Setup
- start Live again
Furthermore, there's a known problem currently with a Digidesign MIDI driver which is obviously not fully Lion compatible and causes all MIDI applications to hang while trying to initialize this driver. The system's Audio-MIDI-Setup is for example also affected (/Applications/Utilities/).
To solve this issue please install the latest Pro Tools 9 or Pro Tools 10 update.
If this doesn't help please remove the Digidesign MIDI driver DigiDioMidiDriver.plugin from this folder: Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers/
Please contact Avid regarding a Lion compatible MIDI driver for your Pro Tools hardware.
