crashes down audio engine is not responding

Post by konstantin sibold » Sat Aug 21, 2010 2:43 pm

There are certain projects, which always crash down while opening: audio engine is not responding fatal error.
before suite 8.1.3. i've never had any problems like this.
The curious thing about it is, that only certain projects are affected and others not, no matter I've been working on them before or not and when I open the affected projects and audio engine is off, everything is ok till I select an audio engine, then it crashes.
It also sometimes appears in projects which are usually working well when I copy paste some audio midi tracks from one into another project.
Maybe it depends on too high cpu usage?
I use rme fireface 800 and win vista, but selecting another audio driver (asio, mme...) does not fix the problem.
Thanks!

Well if ASIO is only the problem try checking an update at rme's site and also try to connect fireface to a different IEE 1394 port. Do u use any kind of 3rd party software also?

I had similar problems recently: Live took ages to start, ages to load sets and some sets which previously ran well lost bits of audio, and kept crashing. I updated my audio interface drivers, which helped a bit. I then bought Registry Booster and PowerSuite from uniblue.com and everything seems to running much faster. I have no commercial interest in Uniblue. The current Computer Music magazine has an article on optimising PCs for DAWs.

Good luck with it.
