CONTEST: Can you recreate this track?
Hello!
In my effort to master what I feel is the most difficult genre to master - roots reggae - I'm curious if anybody here could take the time to recreate this track?
Hugh Mundell (1962-83) & Augustus Pablo (1954-99) - Jah Will Provide
I mean, I can easily do electronic, dance, hiphop and the like. But when it comes to the complex rhythms of roots reggae my mind just goes blank. Would be really cool to see the various ways Live could be used to create this sort of music.
Thanks!

Exact duplicate. No need for vocals.ScudMan wrote:is this a mix, a variation on a theme or an exact duplicate done in ableton vocals and all?
If you want to do a remix of it afterwards, that'd definitely count as a plus!

classic song. About 5 years ago we took the whole rockers album and recreated it (minus vocals). Oh course we did it with insturments because using software sucks the swing and soul right out of loose rhythms.abletony84 wrote:Hello!

reggae rhythms are very simplistic. While I have know drummer who had a hard time with reggae it's very basic as far as rhythm goes. Google reggae beats and you'll find some general info. Best thing you can do is start studying music theory and you'll learn all the stuff to easily reproduce all the golden age of reggae stuff you could ever want
If want rhythms that will blow your mind to recreate start looking into afro-cuban, latin jazz (hell all jazz is good to practice)
Best of luck
In a K induced Haze (the old K kind not the special K kind ), but an Asian spizz can sometimes bring me out! If ya don't get it, ya never will.
