...and to those who say that such a plan would require a new breed of leadership in order to stay honest: Isn't that what Obama represented?
The same Obama that never met an ex-Goldman Sachs CEO or Senior VP that he didn't put into his administration?

And your alternative solution is?LoopStationZebra wrote:If you think the politicians in Washington are corrupt now, omfg, I can't possibly imagine what it would be like to give them literally billions of dollars to play with during the administration of some national healthcare plan.

It would be like giving Goldman Sachs power over my checking account and mortgage.
Oh. Wait....
And governments that already have socialized healthcare are corruption free?

You really have to hand it to the Republicans for claiming the God endorsement back in the 80’s. Despite the fact that Jesus Himself would throw into an uncontrollable rage over their general platform of war, money worship, and wiping their ass with the poor, while they’re fisting the vast majority of their constituency all they have to do is throw down the God card to get a resounding “Oh. Thanks! May I have another?” in response.
Re: BIggest load of Republican Bull**** ever!
the thing is back in the 80's almost every baptist church would have brainwashing sessions to make the congregation believe republican=gods will. if the government says to go to war and you oppose you are out of gods will. when you would show them what it says about evil in the bible they would claim that you are going against authority that god has set in place.
most of the congregation was easily swayed back then but their children were not.
the problem is you still have a lot of the older brainwashed crowd walking around still believing the crap they were told in church. what they should have believed was the parts of the bible that talk about jesus helping the poor, jesus saying love your brother as your self, false prophets, greed, and standing up for what you know is right.
i dont know how many times i heard crap like "i think clinton may be the anti christ" when i was a kid.
my dad is still a hard head republican and only votes for who the majoraty of the church congregation are voting for.
what pisses me off even more is that they think there are only two ways of doing things, republican/tpain party (right) democrat (wrong).
when i mention that i think both sides are wrong and that the whole system needs to be reformed, that we dont need a president and that the people should have the biggest vote in all laws passed i am asked if i am communist!!!! they dont even know what a fucking communist is! they refuse to take the time out to educate themselves. they refuse to see how this country is an elitist dictatorship.

more horrifying than people being denied care by insurance companies over technicalities? THAT's what horrifies me... of course we just hear the filtered through dramatic stories, but the thought of actually having insurance and being denied certain things because it was either pre-existing or some other thing they worked out they could get away with, or demanding blood/urine tests etc etc sounds very scaryLoopStationZebra wrote:It's about not wanting to empower the Federal Government to manage and administer healthcare. my point exactly - a lot of "christians" are exactly the kind of people he was shouting at, they just wore jewish hats at the time, but they behaved the same.beats me wrote:You really have to hand it to the Republicans for claiming the God endorsement back in the 80’s. Re: BIggest load of Republican Bull**** ever!
Even the most ignorant in this country think both parties are fucked and will do nothing for them so they just vote for the God party. A good portion of the red (Republican) states are among the poorest. So that's the only feasible reason they align themselves with the party that has zero of their self interests in mind.Forge. wrote:my point exactly - a lot of "christians" are exactly the kind of people he was shouting at, they just wore jewish hats at the time, but they behaved the same.beats me wrote:You really have to hand it to the Republicans for claiming the God endorsement back in the 80’s. Ironically these are the same simpletons that find the religious governments of the Middle East barbarically insane when their own utopian Christian government isn't far off from the same.

one other point -in Australia, health is managed on a state level. The fed. govt. takes the money through taxes then proportions it to the states and they have their own health dept.LoopStationZebra wrote:It's about not wanting to empower the Federal Government to manage and administer healthcare.
